What game are you currently playing? And what's your favourite game of all time?

More into pc games or into console games?

I'm currently playing World in Conflict, but my favourite pc game ever would have to be Metal Gear Solid (the first one, but the series in general as well).

www.managerzone.com

online football management with real opponents

Not a game to keep you for hours on the pC ... a daily or even a 3 day login would do but you can login every day if you wish ...
A team to be built and be good needs many game seasons and approximatelly 1 or 2 callendar years ...

Fits the profile of people who like strategy games and do not have the time to play PC games due to the fact that real life rythms are not allowing so much time.

My favourite is Spartan.

I like my troops addressing me in Greek "Στας διαταγάς σας!", "Εν τάξει!" smile.gif

Ha ha, Spartans is a funny game. I bought it thinking it will be interesting to emulate hoplite warfare, and the game is not bad in that respect. You get to choose your forces, line them up on a terrain, and then watch as they fight until one side wins. I never got to play a full campain because I got too bored with it and it seemed too cumbersome to learn.

My favorite game ever was Civilization. I played it since version 1, and the latest version 4 is really excellent. I always play as a Greek, and have played epic games against AI that would last weeks. If you get into the game, there is no way you won't get hooked. Find the Civilization Fanatics Forum to see some epic debates why Alexander the Great is the default leader of the Greeks and why many civilizations have been omitted!

It took me a long time to wean my self from the habit. I would play for 20 hours straight, and then when I went to bed I could not sleep because I would think of the game. I still have a copy but I am not going to install it, the game controls me. It's evil I tell you laugh.gif

Since I uninstalled it, I have not played any other games, maybe a little Super Mario Mele with the kids on the game cube, but they kick my butt...

I've only played pc games.

Do you guys remember Wolfenstein (or something like that)? It was the first first person game. Totally hooked on it. Then Doom 1, then 2, and a couple years ago 3. I've played Soldier of Fortune 1, 2, and Quake (old version).

Haven't played anything in a while, partly because I get hooked on such games and I'm busy with work and don't want to get hooked again. laugh.gif

laugh.gif I know that feeling. When you close your eyes you still see the world map etc ... biggrin.gif I had that with Age of Empires 1 and 2. biggrin.gif

@ Athinaios, yeah did you ever play the new version of Castle Wolfenstein? Well, new ... it's probably about 5-6 years old by now. Loved the early Dooms, and the third one was very nice graphically. Quake3 was nice too, but mainly for the Urban Terror add-on.

Right now I'm getting dangerously addicted to a new game, called Assassin's Creed. The story is of a man that through his genes gets to live memories of his ancestor, who lived during the Crusades. Some very nice graphics and gameplay...

And I'm also playing ManagerZone atm, but the advantage of this is that you don't (have to) spend a lot of time on it smile.gif, and Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core on the PSP ...

but all of this whenever I find some time to do it, which isn't too often.

@ Lazarus, this looks very old, don't know it, but Wolfestein probably came later, as the first-person pc game.

Now I have to look for Castle of Wolfestein! Darn. I've got to check it out. It probably is vastly different than the first crude one. BUT, the first one had a revolutionary platform copied by many that followed.

I agree with the thrill of the 2 early Dooms, it was special. #3 was more advanced; maybe I'll replay it one of these days. I played a demo of the last Quake, nice but not great.

Well, Lemmings was released February 14, 1991, Wolfenstein May 5, 1992. I think I last played 'em around '93-'94, so either one of those could have been my last computer game! unsure.gif Wow! I feel old now!!! ohmy.gif ohmy.gif cool.gif

Wow ohmy.gif , not knowing Lemmings ... ohmy.gif ... laugh.gif

It's a classic, somewhat in the same genre as Worms ... which was also great 'til it went 3D a couple of years ago.

Oh and that newer version is called "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" ... it was released in 2001, more than ten years after the original's release.

Don't get addicted! unsure.gif

haha, these old games are a riot. Look at the size of those pixels laugh.gif

I forgot to mention this old mac game I played on a
user posted image (I had this baby in a closet until 1999!)

The game was called "Sub Battle Simulator", and it ran from a floppy disk! Playing in "real time" mode, I waisted many a night lurking as a German U-boat in the Atlantic, waiting for allied ships to come my way so I can torpedoe them. Ah, the things we did when we were young rolleyes.gif

Excellent game though. ten years later I thought I could find the magic of the game on a "Jane's 688i, Hunter Killer" but while the graphics were so much better, the game was really lame.

Oh, yeah, does anyone remember "The Hitchhiker Guide to the Galaxy" and the "Leather Goddess of Phobos"?? I played those back then on the same mac box.

huh.gif Seems like I had that one confused with Ancient Wars: Sparta, of which a sequel of sorts has just been released: Fate of Hellas.

Both look ok, but I'm still looking forward to the first Greek triple A production: Theseis! smile.gif

I only really play games anymore when Im at home....

So latley I have indulged a bit in C&C 3: Tiberium Wars .... cool.gif

If anybody loves RTS, the Company of Heroes games are simply fantastic.

I have the new one, but my computer can barely run it. sad.gif

Best games of all time?

Well, in this age, I beleive games are going to keep coming out, but series will continue and grow for ages on.

The original Command and Conquer/Red Alert, Half Life.....top PC games.

For PSX, Metal Gear Solid Series, as well as the Resident Evil series.

You dont play Age of Empires 3? Thats the best one yet IMO. Great game, so addictive. Single player was also pretty good....

Aah too bad!

No I don't like it ... they spent too much time on graphics and not on gameplay. I loved Age of Mythology, playing with the Greeks or Atlantians ... biggrin.gif gameplay was super. In the third one as far as I can remember maps were too small, I didn't like the whole thing with the Indians (Native Americans?) roadhouses etc and the campaigns + the time in which the game was set didn't appeal to me.

I also like the GTA series and Assassin's Creed was super! (No wonder Konami and Ubisoft collaborated on a april fool's day joke video with the Al-Tair (the guy from AC) in the setting of MGS4). biggrin.gif

Ok ... sad.gif you can officially crown me a nerd now biggrin.gif laugh.gif !

i really like the game play! sending swarms of muketed men and field cannons...was fun....but yeah the era is not appealing to many...

i wish theyd redo age of empires 1 ans 2......also cool eras, but crappy setup/AI/graphics could use a major upgrade...

yeah you are a nerd man laugh.gif

but i used/to be / am a closet "nerd" myself. Im still obsessed with media/technology stuff, but games i just cant keep current with anymore. Too many games too fast, too many upgrades, not enough time etc...

Metal Gear Solid 4 for PS3. Great game.

I remember playing the first ever Metal Gear for Nintendo (the very first Nintendo). Wow, how things have changed!
The storyline is way too complex if you haven't followed the previous versions. I had to look up and read the entire story online to make sense of all the characters and their past.

I like these games that involve stealth and some thinking rather than blazing away at everything that moves. But I also like a bit of action when it is needed. The dozens of weapons and items you acquire and can customize along the way is a cool feature too. I haven't played it online yet, but I've heard it's good.
