Scientists to be Given Power to Decide on Vaccinations

Of course this decision does not mean that all the other cases aren't valid... I don't think there's anything in the whole universe that can convince those people who still argue that vaccines are responsible for autism.

Sadly, the schools fail to teach logic, reasoning, and what the scientific method is.


Since, the post above refers to HPV [link], that's another bogus claim by those who oppose vaccines, in this case many the religious nuts because it has to do with women and sex! Anyway, yes, there's an effective vaccine for this preventable cervical cancer.

Did I mention before that vaccines (and modern science) have doubled human longevity in the last 100 years?..

clean water/sanitation and better living conditions are whats responsible for longevity not vaccines.

Because I'm not saying that everything is safe. But to make unsbustantiated claims is a disservice to humanity.

Because critical thinking does not mean frivolous rejections or making cases from unrelated events. When you say critical thinking is important you don't ask those who make the claims to offer any thinking but only be critical without offering any proof for their claims. Several court cases--where such claims are presented & examined--have ruled against the anti-vaccination crowd.

Because it is the PROCESS by which science produces. The same process is responsible for doubling the human life in the last 100 years! It's the same PROCESS that has trained doctors, engineers, and all sorts of people. You use the fruits of the same PROCESS when you go to the doctor (and not to a witch), and you fly on an airplane.

In other words, it's the PROCESS by which claims must be based on verifiable evidence, open to challenge & revision, and the ability to identify and connect the relevant dots.

I don't know much about the swine flu. Even though I wish this does not become an epidemic, I would like to see if a vaccine cures or prevents this disease. And, yes, I'd take the advice of the scientific community over those who are critical for the wrong reasons. Because my CHANCES (nothing is certain but the eventual death) for survival are going to be BETTER with the scientific consensus than those who just doubt but present no supporting evidence OR reason.

Perhaps it's evolution and natural selection that are trying to get rid of those who don't believe in science & modern medicine. Have you tried alchemy? Or, perhaps astrology? Who knows, they might work

i'm hanging in man and i avoid doctors vaccines and the tripe that 'doctors' prescribe. the only use in my experience for GPs(family doctor) is for time off work i think darwin lied to us


slightly off topic; here in the UK they're cancelling some flights to mexico and those returning from mexico are being checked out for this flu, we are being told that anyone who may have come into contact with the original 20 or so people who have this flu in mexico could be at risk. what i want to know is where did these original 20 or so people get it from ??

Actually it's a big thing here in the US, especially in the border states of Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, and California.

Even here in NY, there are students who seems to have it because they recently visited Mexico! Some schools closed for a few days to disinfect the premises.

This may be like the avian flu of a few years ago that was threatening our species.

Swine Flu has not existed for more than a year. How tested can the effects of this vaccine actually BE? Long term effects clearly cannot be measured in the couse of a few months.

I say wait it out, before considering it.



Mandatory medication is a breach of human rights. I dont care if its "for public benefit" no s%$#!, but not every one wants to take that risk.

Heres an idea- instead of vaccinating, why cant we just physically quarantine people as theyre reported and diagnosed, and release them as they heal (which majority does in a week) ?

i've just returned having spent a few days in greece and a couple in FYR macedonia, it would be a shame if in future any tourist without the shot is prevented from entering greece

If you're healthy and young (not too young of course) then just go through the motions and forget about a vaccine that may make you even more sick than you already were is my oppinion but I'm not a doctor of course...
