Again, I want to know what's happening and whether we can do something to help the planet sustain human life. I don't worry about the earth, in the sense that 99% of all species have died and the earth has about another billion years of good life left. Will humans be around for that long???!!!

The climate is changing, not matter what you call it, and no matter if it's cyclical or not. The earth does go through cycles--we know this much. The question is whether the human species can swing the pendellum too much in one direction because of our activities.

I think with the exception of cyanobacteria, billions of years ago, no other species has had such a great impact on the environment.

Just think about this: if the weather bands shift that would be devastating. Our human civilizations have been around for a few thousand years and have settled in the known areas, and near the seas.

If New York became the new Florida, or the steppes in Russian became fertile, that would be catastrophic for billions of humans. And huge movements/migration of humans isn't possible anymore because of the modern states.

The Earth WILL survive for a long while, with us or without us (or just very few of us)

We exist only within a rather narrow range on earth's surface. Moving isn't an option.
